Jolene - Mother
I thought that I must let you know that unfortunately I had to use my first aid on Monday to help my own little boy Billy, who is 20 months. Billy had stayed with his grandma the night before and I was packing his things to go home. As I did this Billy climbed into his pushchair, which I normally let him do by himself. Then my phone rang and as I was distracted for a second to answer it, Billy stood up in his seat and capsized his buggy with him pushing it and going over the back. The buggy was up against the front door and as he'd fallen hit his head on the inside of the letterbox - with sharp edges!

When I picked him up, I nearly fainted he had a massive cut in his forehead so deep I could see his skull, tons of blood everywhere. I've no idea what order things happened, but opened up a nappy and used that to absorb the blood and apply pressure to his head. I told his grandma to call an ambulance. It was so frightening, it looked so much worse than it probably was, but I knew the fact he was screaming was good, that he had nothing coming out his ears was good and his eyes were ok and not swollen. I kept singing to him and trying to reassure him even though I felt completely insane.

The ambulance took us to hospital, he needed plastic surgery under a general anaesthetic which he had yesterday, he had 12 stitches in his forehead, and is totally fine. He was really, really brave, braver than me! he's running around today like nothings happened.

So I just wanted to say thanks a million because what I learnt during the first aid course really did help on Monday, even though I was a madwoman whilst it was happening I did remember some useful things, and its better to do something than to just freak out and do nothing. So thanks again, hope I never have to use it again.

First Aid At Work

Jason King - Director of Golf (October 2005)
Trainer was superb! Very clear in his training. Made every subject easy to understand and his examples/stories well supported the training. His practical demonstrations were clear and he gave us a lot of time to practise. Thank you very much, for all your hard work training me and the group. I would definately recommend this course to others. The clearest and easiest to understand first aid course i have ever attended.

First Aid For Childcare

Tanya Collins - Nursery Nurse (June 2005)
The trainer made the course very exciting and interesting. He involved every person in every conversation and made everyone feel comfortable. I've learnt alot from the course and would recommend it to anybody. I really enjoyed my 2 days at the course and can't wait to come back in 3 years!

Karen Kelly - Learning and Development Manager (May 2004)
Actual First Aid have been delivering First Aid training to the staff across our organisation since June 2002 through Paediatric and First Aid at work courses, and have so for trained over 200 people. I have consistently received excellent feedback from the delegates, who have thoroughly enjoyed their learning experience. Feedback has included reference to the practical stories and tips during the course, the trainers' enthusiasm and knowledge of their topic and an overall feeling of self confidence should they need to utilise their learning in an emergency situation.

As a training manager, they have made my life easy! They are professional and proactive in their approach, and have been flexible and accommodating to meet both our team and business needs, in terms of timing, dates and locations. They are easy to contact and a pleasure to communicate with.

In my experience, attitudes of staff can often be somewhat lethargic towards the prospect of attending mandatory courses such as First Aid or Health & Safety Mark & Geof f have brought their subjects to life and revived people's interest and attention to these important areas.

I have been, and continue to be impressed by their professionalism, customer service and quality of training content and delivery, and would recommend them without hesitation.

Natelle Richards - Childminder (February 2006)
First Aid Training was made more realistic and felt less like a long lecture. I think it will be easy to remember what to do in an emergency after doing the course. I liked the fact that we got to physically try out these methods on each other.

Julie Williams - Supervisor
I liked the way this first aid training course was presented. Very clear and down to earth. I enjoyed it. I learnt a lot which can be used at work or at home.

Karen Solly - Childminder
The tutor is the best I have seen, he made me feel at ease, and the first aid training was enjoyable. I have learnt so much because the trainer made it easy, so I have told all my friends about him. Amazed I have learnt so much.

Diane Chick - Childminder
The delivery was fantastic & made it more interesting. The last first aid training course I attended was very boring, and I felt that I took more information in on this course because it was interesting. Thanks, it was great fun.

Michlle Lindley - Nursery Manager
First aid training was discussion based as opposed to lecture based. It was intersesting, fun and informative. Would recommend this course as opposed to St Johns or Red cross.

Sarah Maher - Nursery Nurse
I think that the examples and personal stories told by my trainer will stick with me and if I am ever in the situation where I need to act as a first aider I will remember what I was taught due to good explanations and good examples. I had a very good time during my first aid training and feel that I have learnt a lot. Thank you very much. I have really enjoyed the opportunity to learn first aid. Take care.

Nicola Tichauer - Nursery Officer
The presentation, the trainer gave good clear examples and explanations. Easy to ask questions. Really enjoyed this training course. Thank you.

Teresa Kinch - Play Assistant
I was given lots of encouragement, praise and confidence. The trainer taught us in a way we understood, he was on our level and we felt very comfortable. Each week we covered different aspects of first aid the pace was good. One of the best courses I’ve been on. Good course. Good teacher. Overall Excellent!

Maria Alleyne - Play Coordinator
The relaxed way it was presented to us by our trainer, also meeting staff fom other playschemes. I’m not sure if there is much to improve, I have, since 1984, done 4 first aid training courses, and this one.

Penny Wild - Gardener
Efficient. Entertaining. Thorough. Clear. Practical. Realistic. Trainer did not talk down to trainees.

Christine Buller - Nursery Nurse
Presented in a realistic and entertaining way. Not given lots of information which will not be used, but told what to expect.

Lynn Gornan - Nursery Manager
The trainer was an excellent tutor & very effective in ensuring we understood the content of the first aid training course. She used humour and experiences, both her own and ours to illustrate points. I feel very confident now in my ability to handle any situations requiring first aid. Thank you.

Catherine Lyons - Nursery Nurse
The first aid training course was really interesting and I got to learn lots of things. The trainer was really nice to talk to and he made things more interesting. It will be a shame not to see him for 3 years!

Emma Caimes - Nursery Nurse
I liked learning aspects of first aid that I didn’t know. This helped to make sense of certain procedures. I enjoyed the practical elements of practicing on dolls and each other. I don’t think that anything could improve this first aid training course as our tutor was very friendly and competent. Very impressed with the way the trainer teaches.

Joan Howlett - Project Worker
Simple terms. Everything was explained/demonstrated. Tailored to our needs. Two nice guys – sensitive to each individual need of those taking part. Willing to listen and diversify on subject.

Emergency First Aid at Work

Diana Aspden - Regional Professional Training Manager (February 2006)
