It is strongly recommend first aiders undertake a yearly refresher course to ensure the skills they are taught are kept up to date with current guidelines, and that they are kept sharp. The refresher is a half day course, which is not certificated, but helps to cement the training you've already undertaken.
This course is designed to teach emergency paediatric first aid to
parents or to people who can act as backup to holders of the Paediatric
First Aid certificate. The course is 4 hours long and there is no exam.
Upon successful completion of the course each candidate will be awarded
an Emergency First Aid at Work certificate which will be valid for three years from
the date of issue.
The course consists of eighteen hours of assisted learning, which is
split over three days.
Re-Qualification is for holders of a current First Aid at Work Certificate who wish to renew their certification. The course consists of 2 days of assisted learning.
This course has been designed to meet the specifications as laid out in National Standard 1 of
the Care Standards Act 2000.
The certificate gained from this course is the equivalent of the Red Cross
Paediatric First Aid Training, as recommended by OFSTED. Upon successful
completion of the course each candidate will be awarded a certificate
under the Health and Safety Regulations Act (First Aid) 1981 which will
be valid for three years from the date of issue.
